If your site accepts user information like credit card or login information, it will be marked to end users as "not secure" after the 1st of January, 2017 if it does not have an SSL certificate to encrypt the traffic to and from the site.

If this date passes and your site is still accepting the above information over unencrypted connections then the Chrome browser will display a "non-secure" alert to the user.
